Salone del Mobile Milano
Salone del Mobile is going for its 60th edition from the 7th to the 12th of June 2022. The first edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano was held on 24 September 1961. A group of thirteen Italian furnishing entrepreneurs decided to launch the first Milanese fair. At first, it was concentrated on the Italian furniture industry only. Then year after year, the Salone grew in size. And so the interest in design, interior decoration, and home comforts continued to raise so to become an increasingly strong international benchmark. The 2020 edition, due to Covid-19, has been canceled. And now, after 2 long years in this pandemic, the Salone del Mobile is ready to reopen its doors again.
What to expect from this year? The President of the Salone, Maria Porro, comforts “Not a revolution”. The pandemic has made us rethink what really works, and what can be improved. There is a new direction everyone is rowing towards. Quality, innovation, beauty, and, now more than ever, sustainability are the main topics of this event. Salone del Mobile has always been a reservoir of ideas, inspiration, and creativity. Over 2.000 exhibitors will be hosted in this upcoming edition. This will include over 600 young designers under the age of 35. “Salone Satellite” is the launching pad for emerging talented designers. “The design world waits, watches, and takes part so enthusiastically in this upcoming event” (the Mayor of Milan).
