First Property Marketing Specialists Event in the Netherlands

23 June 2022

Netherlands: First Property Marketing Specialists Event Marketing a property properly takes a combination of different skill sets these days. More and more it is imperative that homesellers and especially, estate agents, have a team behind them to properly position and prepare the property for a successful sale. The first real estate marketing event for everyone that has something to do with property presentation e.g. home stagers, estate agents, photographers, videographers, and measurement specialists took place in the Netherlands. Each of these specialties has been used independently or in some way together since the internet became the main way to promote a property online. Home Staging and real estate photography trainers, Ursula Ouwekerk and Liesbeth Oldeman saw a need to create an event to bring all of these professions together to share information, market and work perspectives with the goal to collaborate more. Thus, also raising the bar in the real estate industry in each skill set. Liesbeth Oldeman “If we can get each professional to see how what they do impacts the other and vice versa, then we can work together more fluidly but also create better selling presentations and selling experiences for our homesellers. When we do this, our clients (homesellers and agents) win.” The Netherlands is an early adopter of home staging; in use for almost twenty years. As the demands for increasingly better, more impactful online presentations have grown, the need for staging, photography, videography and floorplans have become equally important so that the estate agent has the best marketing tools from the moment the house goes on the market. So today, more than ever it is crucial to connect all of the dots in the process when preparing a home for sale. The one day marketing event included experts to inspire and inform. With great pleasure, I spoke about the growth of home staging worldwide and the impact IAHSP®EU is having throughout Europe. More highlights included the importance of having a local staging community, keeping staging statistics and the progress made to work with governmental and professional organisations in Real Estate in and outside the EU. Many were unaware of the growth of home staging as a profession. Barb Schwarz kicked off the programme and delivered an inspiring talk live from her homebase in Hawaii. Katinka Kolenaar from CUBIQZ showed us the latest developments in their product line of clever cardboard furniture. Maurits van de Heide of Blinqlab shared his vision of the digitalization of home viewings. He talked about the increasing number of virtual home showings. Co-owner Gijs van Wijgederen of Makelaarsland, a nationwide digital estate agency gave us an estate agent’s perspective on the housing market trends. Sandra Boekhoudt from WealthyWiseWomen spoke about mindset and profitability as a business owner. Bonnie Allart, a measurements expert with her company Bonstaete talked about all the current ins and outs of measurement requirements, certifications and how to add this service to your business earning model. Saskia van der Hilst from SimplySas gave a “Vlogging sells like crazy!” presentation and challenged us all to step out of our comfort zone and in front of the camera for marketing ourselves and the work we do. We concluded the programme with an engaging panel discussion with all of the experts and audience participation. This first real estate marketing event was a success. Ever think of having one in your country? I highly recommend it.
